Using Modify Handles in MicroStation V8
XM Edition
You may have noticed that the modify handles in
MicroStation V8 XM Edition have got a whole lot smarter.
Not only can we copy elements by holding down the
Ctrl key while selecting with Element Selection tool,
but we can also now determine whether the geometric
relationships of an element are maintained when modifying
using their handles. By default, when you click on
a handle of a selected element, the geometric parameters
of the element are constrained while the handle is
repositioned. By pressing the Alt key once, this characteristic
can be toggled to allow free movement of only the
selected handle.

It’s also worth noting
that the display of handles can now be toggled
in the Element Selection tool settings by clicking
on the Disable Handles icon in the top-right
corner of the dialog box.
Curious what the other button does? This allows
you to select handles on elements within a selection
set to modify them!
