Enabling AccuSnap to function when placing
fences
In MicroStation V8, you may have noticed that AccuSnap
didn’t work when placing fences, which was a
pain when trying to place a fence to the corners of
a title sheet for defining the print area! Many of
us later discovered that by holding down Ctrl + Shift,
AccuSnap could be forced back into action.
For those of you who have upgraded to MicroStation
V8 XM Edition, there’s now an option in the
AccuSnap settings which allows you to determine whether
AccuSnap will function with the Place Fence tool by
default. You can get to the AccuSnap Settings by going
to Settings > Snaps > AccuSnap, or by clicking
on the snap icon down in the status bar and selecting
AccuSnap.With the “Enable for Fence Create”
selected (ticked), AccuSnap will automatically enable
when using the Place Fence tool.

You can of course still hold
down Ctrl + Shift to enable AccuSnap selectively
with the Place Fence tool when “Enable
for Fence Create” is not selected!
