CAD Modelling
Cadventure offers a 3D design modelling service for architects and designers. As a long-term solution, we can also provide mentoring alongside your project team as you work on the project, enabling you to learn on the job and acquire the necessary skills to produce future 3D models independently.

Modelling for the ZCorp printer
The ZCorp technology works by creating a 3D physical model directly from digital data, layer by layer. A 3D CAD file is imported into the proprietary system software. The software slices the file into thin cross-sectional slices, which are fed to the 3D printer. The 3D printer creates the model one layer at a time by spreading a layer of powder and inkjet printing a binder in the cross-section of the part. The process is repeated until every layer is printed and the part is complete and ready for removal.

File Formats for 3D printing
There are 2 main formats, STL & VRML, exportable from most AEC CAD software for 3D printing to the ZCorp machines. Additionally PLY files produced by 3D scanners can be printed.

VRML - Virtual Reality Modelling Language
For colour prints - again the design file is meshed but unlike STL this format holds colour information. Apply textures and render the model in your rendering software and export to VRML.

Additional to the kind of issues encountered with STL files, problems can arise when images are mapped onto contiguous but not joined parts. Joining parts into a single entity before export should produce printable results.

Visualisation
To complement our 3D CAD modelling offering, Cadventure offers an architectural animation and image visualisation bureau service for architects and designers. For a longer-term solution, we are able to work with your team to mentor individuals on the project to enable future visualisation work to be carried out in-house. Our experts are experienced in the latest and most effective visualisation techniques, such as particle tracing, ray tracing, and photo montage.
